Ground Preparation: Concrete is best, however, if the stall area is earthen or stone it should be level and well packed. Before installing the foam mat place a 4 mil plastic liner.
Mattress Installation: Lay foam according to schematic provided. There is no up or down side. Butt each edge of foam to one another and to the edge of the stall walls leaving no gaps.
Top Cover Installation: Your cover will be pre-cut according to measurements provided in your order.
-
Be sure to reference your cut length according to the North Brook Farms schematic provided. The black basket weave side is the top; the woven side is the bottom of the cover.
-
Spread the cover over the stall.
-
Crease the cover where the mattress meets the wall to form a 90-degree edge. Make sure the cover is lying flat without wrinkles or bubbles.
-
Kick the fabric in place, out to the edges of the stall, so it is even and flat in the stall or use a 2 x 4 to ensure the cover is tight to the edge of the stall.
-
Fasten the width direction first. Vertically notch the fabric at the corner where the mattress and fabric meet, to form two "wings" ( that will be tucked behind and over the plastic strip). Be sure to have a sharp utility knife and extra blades.
-
Be very careful when cutting the fabric not to injure the foam pad or cut the fabric too deeply, leaving the foam pad exposed in the corner. Measure the wall corner to corner. Cut the other corner of the same wall.
-
Cut enough plastic strips to cover this length. The plastic strips are 8 ft. long. You may need to use a part of another strip to complete the attachment.
-
To cut the strip, score the plastic several times, then snap the strip with your hands. Be sure to save the remaining strip to use on the other walls.
-
Begin fastening the plastic strip against the top cover flat against the wall. Use a 1 5/8" deck star screw (if stall walls are wooden) or a 1 5/8" tap-con screw (if stall walls are concrete) to fasten fabric and plastic strip to the walls. The plastic strip does not need to be predrilled.
-
The plastic strip should be resting on the top of the mattress or slightly recessed if possible.
-
Start at one end and continue to the other end. Do not start in the middle. Proceed to the opposite wall and repeat the cutting, measuring, and fastening steps.
-
Fasten the walls across from each other (side, side, back, front). The cover should not have any wrinkles or bubbles, but should not be pulled too taut. It should be smooth and rest on top (be touching) of the mattresses. If you have posts or doorways, the fabric will need to be cut.
